Living Stations of the Cross

About the Living Stations of the Cross:

Lent is a time of repentance, fasting, self-examination, and preparing our hearts for the Resurrection of our Lord at Easter.  We unite ourselves to Jesus as we contemplate the mystery of Jesus’ total gift of Himself to us.

Each year during lent, the young men and women of Comunita Cenacolo America share in a live presentation of the Stations of the Cross. Through meditating deeply on each station, we are able to come to know God’s love for us more profoundly and we share that love through a prayerful representation of Jesus’ Passion. We unite ourselves with Mary, Jesus’ mother and our mother, and contemplate Jesus’ passion through her eyes. Her silent, faithful presence leads us to a deeper understanding of this great sacrifice that Jesus made for each of us, so that we might live!

Many of us have experienced a time in our lives that was filled with darkness and sin that hurt God, contributing to the heavy weight that He had to carry on the Cross. Contemplating on the Stations of the Cross, we know that death does not have the final word! We have the joy in proclaiming that we are children of the Risen Lord!

" Getting up on stage, speaking about ourselves in front of many people, overcoming the fear of making mistakes, holding a microphone, and singing... these are all things that not one of us would have been capable of doing without first drinking or taking drugs. They are great conquests of freedom. Because of this, the testimonies are, first of all, a great gift for us. They heal our hearts, help us to overcome our fears and complexes, and reinforce within us what we are testifying. Before being a way of touching others, it is a means through which the love of God heals us,"
